SC receives petition to void Senate's new impeach conviction threshold

MANILA, Philippines —Former Exec. Secretary Victor Rodriguez has petitioned the Supreme Court to strike down the Senate Impeacment court’s recent decision to modify the voting threshold needed for a conviction of an impeached official. In his 23-page Petition for Certiorari and Prohibition filed Sept. 24, Rodriguez said the chamber’s ruling has unlawfully rewritten the 1987 Constitution. While the case is pending, he asked the SC to issue a temporary restraining order and a writ of preliminary i
