Martin Romualdez files bail petition for plunder

MANILA, Philippines — Former House Speaker and incumbent Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez on Monday asked the Sandiganbayan Third Division that he be allowed temporary liberty by posting bail. Romualdez, former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co and two others, faces a plunder case involving alleged kickbacks worth P7.44 billion. Plunder is a non-bailable offense. Romualdez pleaded not guilty. Bail, however, can still be granted through a summary bail hearing, with the prosecution bearing the burden
