Japan lifts sanctions on 16 Syrian entities to support reconstruction

Japan on Tuesday decided to further ease sanctions on Syria, lifting measures against 16 entities in an effort to support the country’s reconstruction following the 2024 collapse of former President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara told a regular press conference in Tokyo that the decision had been made to support the Syrian government’s efforts to bring stability to the country.
