CERA calls for lifting of coal-fired plant ban in Negros, Bohol

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – The ongoing ban on coal-fired power plants in the provinces of Negros and Bohol is seen as “pushing the interconnected Visayas grid to the brink.” The Cebu Energy Rights Advocates (CERA) said that while being “green” has its benefits, the policy is actively depleting baseload power reserves in Cebu, Panay, and Leyte. “Demand for power is shared by one Visayas grid; therefore, the responsibility for the burden of baseload supply must also be shared,” said CERA convenor Nathan
